BE as Capacity Building                                                                     

Capacity Buildingalthough used extensively to denote ‘trainings’ but in fact here by capacity building BE means to transfer such knowledge and expertise to its participants such that they are more knowledgeable, can apply their knowledge at work, correct their bad practices, and be motivated towards self learning. This very ambitious approach is adopted through a set of specially designed courses after a Training Needs Assessment (TNA) and combining that with a highly skilled trainers from the practical field who are implementing PMI®  standards. Here at BE the need is assessed by understanding that each individual needs are different and each is at a different platform of learning curve, which we call: Cycle of Knowledge[1].

 

There are several classifications of people, when it comes to information. These are:- N2k, y2k, n2k, and g2k. These stand for, respectively, Not to(2) Know, Yearn to(2) Know,Need to(2) Know, and finally, Got to(2) Know.

 

 

 

1.     Not To Know “N2k” : - These are the individuals who have nothing to do with the intel in question. They are the un-related people, who have been isolated from all forms of obtaining the required intel.

Such people will be silent spectators from the outside and this training programme will aim at making them curious about knowledge.

 

2.      Yearn To Know “y2k” : - These are the individuals who have been exposed to sensitive intel which may lead them to pursue the intel under question. These individuals will be considered as ‘N2k’ until they have pursued part, or whole, of the intel at hand.

This prep programme will begin with such individuals and raise their awareness level during the first 10 days of interaction and knowledge sharing.

 

3.      Need To Know “n2k” : - These are the individuals who have been given, or have provided, adequate verification which classifies them as candidates for being exposed to the intel under current discussion. They are to be provided with the required intel.

The second Drill Phase of the programme will interact with the ‘y2k+’ people and develop them into the ‘n2k’ category of knowledge workers.

 

4.     Got To Know “g2k” : - These are the individuals who have gained access to the classified intel without providing adequate verification, or authorization, to be allowed to access the intel.

At the end of this prep course the knowledge seekers should have graduated to this level of knowledge workers, be self motivated to learn and to guide others.
